The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge economic impact on every country in the world. It is evident that the main problem in the early stages was saving lives and avoiding the collapse of health systems. For this, strict measures had to be taken, such as total confinement, which prevented the vast majority of the economic sectors from continuing their normal activities. In this complex scenario, only some sectors quickly adapted by working from home. However, there are economic sectors, companies and organisations that cannot function without physical-face-to-face activities.

The pandemic’s strong impact on the economy meant that within a few months of the most drastic measures being introduced, governments gradually considered the possibility of some economic sectors returning to work. These measures have now been expanded to other economic activities, but there is still a latent risk of possible new outbreaks.

Companies and organisations must definitely re-operate in order to mitigate the pandemic’s effects on productivity, job loss and the economy in general, while ensuring there is appropriate biosecurity and monitoring, as this will allow them to produce while also protecting their workers’ health.
